If you visit Barra Grande, on the coast of Piauí, you can find a very special art installation: a Portal that connects people from different countries in real time.

Created by Lithuanian artist Benediktas Gylys, the project was born with a simple and inspiring goal: to bring people from different cultures closer together through eye contact. The Portal functions as a live "window" between cities, allowing strangers to wave, smile, dance, and interact—all without audio, using only the universal language of gestures.

Barra Grande was chosen to host the first Portal in South America because it is an internationally renowned tourist destination, especially among kitesurfers, and because it represents the idea that even a small village can be connected to the entire world.

The concept goes far beyond technology: it invites us to remember that, despite differences in language, culture, and distance, we all share the same planet.
